Tribute to the priest tier sets of World of Warcraft

Priest class in World of Warcraft has had one thing quite in order throughout the years the game has been around, and that is good looking tier sets. I got the idea for this project last autumn, when I realised I still have all this "junk" stealing my bank space. First it took me months to go and take these screenshots and then another two months to actually edit them.

First I considered screenshotting the sets in places that were somehow related to them, ie. tier 1 near Blackrock Mountain, tier 6 in Shadowmoon Valley. Eventually I decided, since my character is a night elf priest, to find good spots for screenshots in Kalimdor. I also wanted the places to be somehow night elf related if possible.

Here they are now, I hope you enjoy!

Dungeon set 1: Vestments of the Devout

Who could forget the countless ubrs runs for tier 0 chests and how Drakki always dropped the wrong one? I really like this set, the colours are beautiful and the design is very priestlike. I wanted to screenshot this set somewhere very priest-related place and what could've been more perfect than the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus.
The reason t0,5 is missing from here is that I always found the yellow colours really ugly on my elf and didn't want to ruin the lovely Devout. Statwise I never needed it.

The dagger is Fang of Venoxis from Zul'Gurub, the first epic on my priest.

Tier 1: Vestments of Prophecy

Prophecy has something in common with Incarnate. They both are quite down to earth and warm in their style and colours, which is what I like about them. The spot along the coast in Desolace with the ruins of old tower suited this set somehow really well. It's a beautiful place in the devastated land. What I do not like about this style of shoulders is how badly they look from several camera angles. Also I was never a fan of that mickeymouse helm.

The staff is of course the classic, Benediction, a priest quest staff from Molten Core times.

Tier 2: Vestments of Transcendence

Transcendence is interesting set, with the shoulders it actually looks pretty massive. It's definitely a step to more "epic" style from Prophecy. I wanted to take it to some transcendental spot, and realised Moonglade might be quite fitting. The helm of t2 is actually the reason my priest came to be. I was playing with wow model viewer, fitted the t2 helm to a night elf, played a bit with hair and face styles and decided "alright, I want that". Took ages for the helm to eventually drop. The set is unfortunately lacking shoulders, which I think I've seen dropping once or twice when I was raiding on my druid.

The staff is Spire of Twilight from 40man Naxxramas.

Tier 2,5: Garments of the Oracle

I've always been a huge fan of Silithus and its lore, and used to hang around there just doing nothing from time to time, enjoying the athmosphere. Needless to say I was quite happy when I finally had the whole AQ40 set on my priest. The design of Oracle set, unlike several other AQ pieces like plate items, is really beautiful and fitting, and the texture has interesting details. What seems like cloth looks like insect skin actually.

The staff is Blessed Qiraji Augur Staff, an item acquired through a drop item turn-in in AQ40.

Tier 3: Vestments of Faith

The jewel of priest sets. Many people call Faith "the ultimate priest set" and I tend to agree. It's delicant, ethereal looking, with angel wings and halo. What more one could ask? I knew I definitely wanted to take the set to Feralas, and was originally planning on screenshotting it near the Emerald Dragon area, but realised that'd be too close to Moonglade picture. Thus I ended up with this bridge near the boat to Feathermoon Stronghold.

The staff is Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian.

Dungeon set 2: Hallowed Raiment

I had hard time fitting this Outland dungeon set to any location in Kalimdor. I do not have any strong ties to the set either, I couldn't fit it into any mood style or such. In the end I just decided to take it somewhere where the colours would match the background. Plain, but beautifully coloured set.

The swordlike-dagger is Illidari Mage-blade from a quest chain starting in Shadowmoon Valley.

Tier 4: Incarnate Raiment

Incarnate has a very warm feeling about it. Unlike several priest sets, it actually looks really comfortable and something you could wear in all weathers. Thus I wanted to picture it in Winterspring, next to a camp fire.

The staff is Nightstaff of the Everliving, a drop from Nightbane in Karazhan.

Tier 5: Avatar Raiment

Avatar is a gorgeous set, continuing the angelwing theme and adding this hood that adds both halo and glowing eyes. I also love the textures on the robe, the metal chains give it rather strong look. Finding a good spot to take the screenshot at was hard though, I had no idea where this set would actually fit to. Eventually I decided to take it to my favourite area in Ashenvale, to the lake near Satyrnaar in northern Ashenvale.
It's a shame my set is lacking the gloves, I was raiding as shadow during t5 and the gloves were nothing spectacular for shadowpriest.

The weapon is the t5 lookalike weapon Staff of Immaculate Recovery, from Gurtogg Bloodboil in Black Temple.

Tier 6: Vestments of Absolution

Absolution comes right after t3 on my list of favourite priest sets. It is perfect because it is so different from others. Made for priest of the dark times, of abandoned temples and of the places where faith is lost. The details are amazing; the colours, halo on helm, and especially the shoulders with female head, blindfold over her eyes. Many people view it as "shadow priest looking" set which it is but I've always defended it's place as quite fitting for holy priests aswell. In the end I decided to picture it in it's more shadowpriest-like form, as a memory from the times my priest has been shadow, and simply just because this demon infested place in Ashenvale is awesome for a screenshot.

That felhunter on a stick is Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer, from Illidan in Black Temple.

Sunwell set

This set took some time to grow into. When I got the robe and wore it with t6, I wondered if I'd ever get used to the ugly thing. But after getting the rest of the pieces, I must say it is actually pretty glorious looking set. I really wanted to take it to Azshara, which is very old place in elven history.

The mace is Hammer of Sanctification from Kil'jaeden in Sunwell Plateau.

It's such a cliche but I'd still like to do it. I'd like to thank those people who made owning these sets possible. In no special order, thanks goes to:
Shadow Sentinels * Moonglade-EU
Argent Eve/Fir Samhain * Moonglade-EU
Legenda * Silvermoon-EU
and the Naxxramas raiders group on Silvermoon
